Ohiopyle is a quintessential outdoor adventure town. The town is
surrounded by the nearly 20,000 acre Ohiopyle State Park, named
among the top ten state parks in the country by Camping Life
magazine.
Visit on any given day and you will find the robust mingling of
bikers, hikers, and water enthusiasts. Annual events like the Over
the Falls Festival (August), Music in the Mountains (September) and
Winterfest (February) add to Ohiopyle’s vibe.
Ohiopyle is known for the scenic
Ohiopyle Falls and Youghiogheny River Gorge. Once known as Falls
City, Ohiopyle has been a tourist destination since the advent of
the railroads, when in the 1870s, excursions from Pittsburgh to
Ohiopyle and back cost only $1. Nearby
Fallingwater
is
one of architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s most acclaimed works.
Biking has long been a popular activity in Ohiopyle. The Ohiopyle to Ramcat section of the Great Allegheny
Passage was the first to be
opened in 1986. With bike traffic along the Passage at an all time
high, Ohiopyle is poised to respond to market needs, and already
does.
Visitors to Ohiopyle will find plenty of guest houses, camping, a
nearby lodge,eateries, outfitters,
and bikes shops. Download the
Ohiopyle Trail Town brochure

complete listing of businesses.
