Discover Trail Towns Along the Great Allegheny Passage
Have you heard the buzz about the
Great Allegheny Passage?
Now connected to the C&O Canal Towpath in Cumberland, MD,
the Passage was the first trail named to the “Rail Trail
Hall of Fame” in June. And it’s no wonder. Hundreds of
thousands of bikers are making the ride each year. We aren’t
kidding when we say it will be the “Ride of Your Life.”
All along the trail are “Trail Towns,” small town centers of
commerce for bikers, visitors, and residents. The Trail Town
Program seeks to connect “trail and town.” Quite simply, we
want visitors to enjoy the Trail Towns as part of their
adventure, and we want local businesses to benefit from the
biking boom. So whether you’re just visiting, a resident, or
a business investor,we hope that you’ll come along for the ride.
The Trail Town
Program is a special project of
The Progress
Fund,
a non-profit lender to businesses
in the travel and tourism industry. The Trail Town concept
wasdeveloped by the
Allegheny
Trail Alliance in
conjunction with The
Progress Fund and other key partners to realize the economic
potential of the Great Allegheny Passage. The Great
Allegheny Passage logo is a registered trademark of the
Allegheny Trail Alliance and is used by its permission.
