Recognition

First Quarter 2012

The Beaver Business District Authority (BDA) is pleased to recognize David Sebastian as our featured downtown recognition recipient this quarter. David recently completed a façade renovation to his property located at 688 Third Street. This location is the home of Photography By James.

David utilized the façade incentive program offered through the Beaver County Community Development Program's downtown revitalization program to complete this great project. The BDA is proud to recognize this positive enhancement to our downtown. It is the dedication of committed individuals that continues to help our area remain a focus of inspiration and to serve as a fitting location for our town's activities.

The committee thanks David for his time, energy and enthusiasm for our downtown!

Fourth Quarter 2011

The Beaver Business District Authority has chosen Patrick Trevelline of the Towne Square Restaurant, as its 4th Quarter Downtown Recognition recipient for 2011. Patrick is being recognized by the committee for his great service and commitment to our community.

We would like to thank Patrick for his contributions to Beaver. His on-going dedication and commitment to our town is appreciated. The Towne Square Restaurant also recently repainted its façade and it looks great! We appreciate our business owners taking pride in their properties and businesses. It benefits not only your own business, but the town of Beaver.

Congratulations and thank you for your ceaseless dedication to our wonderful community!

Third Quarter 2011

The Beaver Business District Authority has chosen the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department as its 3rd Quarter Downtown Recognition recipient for 2011. The department is being recognized for its 175th Anniversary Celebration on September 11, 2011.

The BDA would like to recognize Fire Chief John Grosskopf and the Fire Department for their 175 years of serving our community. Not only does this commemorative anniversary remind us that the Beaver VFD ensures the safety of our residents, workers, and buildings, but it will also serve to bring more vitality to our community. This special anniversary will be celebrated at an Open House the weekend of Sept 10 and 11 and also will serve to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

Events such as this, the VFD's 10K race held earlier this summer, as well as other VFD activities planned for this fall (see calendar of events) brings thousands of visitors to our downtown and makes Beaver a vibrant community benefitting our merchants and citizens. These kinds of activities also serve to benefit the fire department by raising awareness and sometimes funds to purchase new equipment, gear and to support fire prevention programs.

John Grosskopf has been Chief since 2007, and is only the eleventh Chief in the 175 years of the department. The VFD has 33 active members and seven honorary members who dedicate many hours of training, maintaining of equipment, as well as answering an average of 100 calls every year.

Second Quarter 2011

The Beaver Business District Authority has chosen the Third Street Renaissance LP as its 2nd Quarter Downtown Recognition recipient for 2011.  The group, comprised of Tod Arbutina, Dale Cottrill, Jack Ellsworth and Tom Helsing, is being recognized for its outstanding contribution to our business district streetscape.  An unsightly vacant building at 525 Third Street was demolished, and in its place stands an attractive property that houses four new businesses. Lloyds The Running Store and Courtney-Laughlin Frame Shop moved in earlier this year and Gerald M. Goltz, MD will soon open his endocrinology office there.  With its own entrance from a parking lot in the rear of the building, Cottrill-Arbutina & Associates, PC occupies the back suites.

The BDA  thanks Third Street Renaissance LP for choosing Beaver as the location to build their attractive new home for their firm.  The Board also thanks Kathleen Courtney, Jamie Laughlin, Lloyd Grimes and Gerald M. Goltz, MD for taking advantage of this exciting new opportunity.

First Quarter 2011

Beaver’s Storytime Program is the brainchild of the Beaver Business District Authority and takes place twice a month.  In addition to listening to a well-told story, children also take part in an activity related to the story. If you are interested in becoming a part of this very popular event, please email jennifer15009@yahoo.com The Storytime event for this month is February 23 at 10 AM at Castle Toys and Games on Third Street.
